A Role of Trading Company

2023/10/06

Today, I’d like to talk about Kozaki Trading ourselves.

What we mainly do is a distribution for bicycles and their accessories.

But we also have an important role as a trading company.

Let me introduce a role of a trading company which is unfamiliar to many people.

3 main roles of trading company

1, making a match (make the best match between buyers and suppliers)

2, negotiation (negotiate about sales terms, payment terms or other issues)

3, logistics (arrange shipment of air/ship/courier)

Based on the 3 roles, we help buyers and suppliers do a lot of things that happen between them.

In short, we can say that we act as an organizer in the middle.

We pick up the role 3 LOGISTICS and let’s talk more about it.

Here is a question for you.

How long can you wait for an item to get when buying AMAZON or any other EC?

A month? No way.

A week? Still long?

A few days? OK, that’s reasonable.

We cannot deny that we want to get things as soon as possible.

For those people in need, trading company play an important role in logistics arrangement.

Let me give you an example; To export bicycle tires to China by sea

What does trading company have to care about?

1, Booking shipment is the first priority.

Once schedule decided, we announce it to all who involved and proceed the delivery.

2, Once POL and POD decided, try to estimate any troubles and obstacles that might happen.

In terms of a strike which affects a lot to logistics, it happens more in Europe and the US compare to in Asian countries and we should be aware of it.

3, Terrible weather like typhoons or storms affects logistics in different ways.

We can never change the weather, but it would be possible to be always aware of the weather forecast and re-arrange the schedule in advance.

4, Like this case to export to China, there are some other national holidays in China which we don’t have in Japan. We need to decide delivery schedule with considering those holidays.

5, There are 2 types of trading document;

1, the one required every time   (ex, invoice, packing list, shipping instruction)

2, the one required for special case  (ex.Certificate of Origin, Food import Notification Certification)

As for type 2, knowledge and experiences are required to complete the document.

As I go through, there are various issues to be concern for the optimal logistic.

Our staffs have confident that they have various channels for those concerns.

Our goal is to achieve that

buyers and suppliers can focus on only their own business.

For who want to explore a new market with your valuable products,

For who look for any attractive items overseas,

We will be definitely your great business partner and an organizer of orders.
